Happy 2014! We're back, refreshed and ready to take on a brand new year. To kick things off, we're very excited to share a set of incredible live performances that took place during M for Montreal last November.
On a blustery Friday afternoon, M teamed up with Nomad Nation and Sofar Sounds to present a very special secret show featuring artists perfoming selections from Beck's Song Reader. Beck released the Song Reader album in 2012 with McSweeney's, published only as sheet music. It features 20 songs that can only be heard when performed. The project even has a website dedicated to various interpretations by musicians all over the world.
A stellar lineup of artists were invited to perform selections from Song Reader at a special M for Montreal show at Nomad, including Patrick Watson, Miracle Fortress, AroarA, Brad Barr with Sarah Page, Jill Barber, Alejandra Ribera and Safia Nolin. Only 120 lucky folks were invited to watch this incredibly intimate show, and the entire M @ Nomad Song Reader session was filmed.
Throughout the week, we will be sharing clips of this incredible event.
The first performance in our M @ Nomad Song Reader series comes courtesy of Alejandra Ribera, with her amazing interpretation of "Please Leave a Light on When You Go".
For those of you in NYC, Alejandra will be performing at Le Poisson Rouge at our sister festival Mundial Montreal's APAP showcase, tonight (Monday January 13) at 6:55 PM!
