M @ SXSW 2018

Next month, we’re flying off to Austin, Texas to present our 12th export mission of Montréal and Québec-based talent at key industry event South by Southwest. A dozen Québecois artists will perform over the course of 4 events taking place between March 12 and March 16.

We’re delighted to count on the significant support of Musicaction, the SODEC (Society for the Development of Cultural Entreprises of Québec), Export Québec, Manitoba Music and SaskMusic to fulfill this mission.

Find the full programming below.

Monday, March 12

The M crew will kick off SXSW by showcasing the best of Montreal during an event presented with BonsoundPOP MontréalMoonshine and HUB Montréal, in collaboration with Export Québec. “We Are Montreal” will feature dreamy electro-pop duet Milk & Bone, electronic band Wake Island, Afro-Canadian singer-songwriter Pierre Kwenders and DJs from Moonshine and Beachclub.

Tuesday, March 13

We’re kicking off SXSW by teaming up with Canadian organizations Manitoba Music and SaskMusic and the Exclaim! magazine. Festivalgoers are expected at “RDV Canada” at 8 p.m. for showcase featuring R&B/hip hop duo Samurai Champs, new pop talent Boniface, dark-synth group Ghost Twin, alternative band John Jacob Magistery, the inimitable singer-songwriter Lisa Leblanc, and “sincere pop” artist Helena Deland

Thursday, March 15

We’re happy to collaborate once again with our longtime partner, music magazine BrooklynVegan, plus promoter Margin Walker Presents to present the second edition of Lost Weekend. Held at Cheer Up Charlies, this daytime showcase will feature an eclectic group of both Canadian and American artists from noon to 6 p.m.

Friday, March 16

Finally, we’ll close out our presence at SXSW on Friday, March 16 with a very special evening at Swan Dive.

Starting things off, M and POP Montréal present a cocktail party Québécois-style, with the poutine swapped for healthy snacks. Supported by SODEC, this event set to the sound of art-rock band Corridor will be a golden opportunity for international networking!

The evening will end with an official showcase under the open sky, once again co-presented with Exclaim!. Starting at 8 p.m., the show will star psych pop outfit Anemone, dreamy electro-pop duet Milk & Bone, queer punk act Partner, post rock quartet FRIGS, trash-folk artist Lisa Leblanc and the dancy eletrop pop group Le Couleur.
